Botox® is carefully injected into the muscle beneath the skin, blocking the signals between nerves and muscles. This interruption causes the targeted muscle to relax. As a result, the underlying skin remains smooth and wrinkle-free, since the muscle is no longer contracting.

Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® use botulinum toxin to temporarily relax facial muscles and smooth out wrinkles. However, the main difference is in their formulation. Xeomin® is a “naked” neurotoxin, meaning it contains no added proteins or preservatives, which may reduce the risk of developing resistance. In contrast, Botox® and Dysport® include accessory proteins that, over time, could potentially lead to antibody resistance in some individuals.

Botox®, Xeomin®, and Dysport® are commonly used for a variety of cosmetic and medical purposes. Their primary function is to temporarily relax targeted muscles.

Dermal fillers such as Juvaderm and Restylane are hyaluronic acid products that can be injected into target areas such as the cheeks, around the mouth, or lips, anywhere additional volume is needed for correction or enhancement.  It replaces the naturally occurring hyaluronic acid (HA) that is depleted as the skin ages. Losing HA results in your skin losing its youthful volume, allowing wrinkles to appear.

The effects of dermal fillers can last for anywhere from six months to a year and a half.

Dermal fillers are considered a non-surgical, minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment. At Happy Hands Aesthetics we use only FDA approved fillers.

Before the procedure, Dr. Sarshad will schedule a consultation to collect your medical history and to determine if dermal fillers are right for you. In addition to this, she will also discuss your expectations and concerns related to the treatment. A local anesthetic cream will be applied to the treatment area, if you are concerned about the pain and discomfort experienced during the procedure.

During the procedure, Dr. Sarshad will gently inject filler into the treatment area to produce the desired results. To ensure uniform distribution of the filler, she will then also massage the area. This will help produce more natural-looking results. After the treatment, she may provide you an ice pack to apply to the treatment area to minimize pain and swelling and go over after care instructions.

You experience the following temporary side effects after the treatment:

• Swelling
• Tenderness to touch
• Redness
• Pain
• Itching
• Bruising—generally is minimal as Dr. Sarshad uses a cannula for a lot of treatment areas
• Discoloration These side effects last for one week or less. If your side effects do not subside or are severe in nature, it is important that you immediately contact Dr. Sarshad.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses injections of a concentration of a patient’s own platelets to accelerate the healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints.

PRP therapy results usually are noticeable after 6 months and usually require touch-up treatments at least once a year to keep the results you expected from the original treatment.

One of the most common side effects of PRP therapy is noticeable pain or soreness originating from the injection site.

Some more serious side effects include:
